Frequently asked questions about Botox
What are Botox injections?
Anti-wrinkle treatments are injections of Botulinum Toxin A, used to temporarily relax overly expressive facial muscles. Tiny amounts of product are injected just under the skin with a very fine needle. They lessen the affected muscle’s ability to contract as strongly, resulting in less visible creasing of the skin and softening of the appearance of aging.
Which areas can be treated with Anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles that are overactive, lessening their ability to contract and producing beautiful results. They smooth fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows, and in the crow’s feet and can also be used to create a brow lift. They are effective at lessening the appearance of a gummy smile, bunny lines on the bridge of the nose and are also used to treat localised hyperhidrosis, (excessive sweating under the arms).
Are Botox injections safe?
Line softening treatments with Botulinum Toxin are extremely safe, especially in the medically qualified hands of a Nurse Practitioner. I only use genuine Botox which is licensed specifically for aesthetic and cosmetic use.
When will I see my results?
Results of your Botox injections will take a full two weeks to reach their optimum effect. Your treatment results will develop over a few days, allowing you to subtly adjust to the visible changes. I offer a review appointment three weeks post-treatment, which is included in the treatment cost. At this review any adjustments can be made to ensure that you are completely happy with your results.
How long will my results last?
Results typically vary between clients as everybody processes the toxin differently. As a general rule, you can expect your results to last for around three to four months. After this time, you will require a repeat treatment if you wish to maintain your results.
Do I need to perform any aftercare?
It is recommended not to undergo further facial treatments or facial massage for two weeks following treatment. Keep your face clean and avoid applying makeup until the day following treatment. You will be advised to avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after your treatment. I will provide you with an aftercare leaflet, and, of course, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me for advice.
