Microsclerotherapy

What is Microsclerotherapy?

Microsclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment specifically designed to treat spider veins on the legs.

This procedure involves the injection of a special solution directly into the visible veins, causing them to collapse and gradually fade from view.

This treatment effectively eliminates the veins, leaving your legs looking clearer and more evenly toned. The treatment is particularly popular due to its high success rate and the minimally invasive approach, allowing for quick recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Microsclerotherapy suitable for?

Microsclerotherapy is suitable for patients with visible spider veins on the legs who desire a non surgical approach to vein treatment. It is ideal for those who want a minimally invasive procedure with minimal downtime. It is not suitable for those with larger varicose veins, certain vascular conditions, or those who are pregnant.

Is this treatment safe?

Microsclerotherapy is a safe treatment with minimal risks. The solution used in the injection is designed to seal off unwanted veins safely, and all procedures are carried out by medical trained professionals. However, as with any procedure, there are small risks of side effects, including minor bruising, redness, or itching at the injection site, which typically subside within a few days.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on the extent of your spider veins. During your consultation, we’ll assess your veins and recommend a personalised treatment plan.

When will I see my results?

You may begin to notice results within a few weeks after your first treatment, as the treated veins gradually fade.

Does it require pain relief?

Microsclerotherapy is generally well tolerated. Some patients may experience mild discomfort during the injection, but this is brief.

How long will my results last?

Results from microsclerotherapy are long lasting for treated veins. However, new veins may form over time, so maintenance treatments may be needed in the future, depending on individual factors and lifestyle.

What happens during the session?

During the treatment, a fine needle is used to inject the solution into each visible vein, causing it to collapse and fade over time. The treatment typically lasts 30-60 minutes, depending on the extent of the vein area being treated. After the treatment, compression stockings will be given to you to support healing.

Will I be able to go back to work after treatment?

Yes, microsclerotherapy has minimal downtime, and you can typically resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Some redness or mild bruising may occur at the treatment sites, but these effects usually resolve within a few days. Avoid flying for at least two weeks after on flights shorter than 2–3 hours, and for at least four weeks for flights longer than 4 hours.
